The white wine Te Awanga Estate Quarter Acre Chardonnay, vintage 2020 from the winery Clearview Estate has been rated in 2022 by Anne Krebiehl with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Chardonnay from the region Hawkes Bay in New Zealand.
Some earthy funkiness appears first on the nose, speaking of yeasty richness and some reduction. The palate is wonderfully taut and also marked by some gun glint notes of reduction, there is fine freshness and lemony briskness but the texture is rich and allows glimpses of creamy tropical fruit. This is vividly fresh, very long and beautifully complex.
