The red wine Merlot Riserva Collio DOC, vintage 2016 from the winery La Rajade has been rated in 2023 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 91 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy.
Shimmering, deep ruby. Opens with notes of sour berryish fruit, cassis and blackberry, also rum-steeped fruit, green-spicy components in the background. Hearty, gripping tannin on the palate, shows a lot of firm drive, then unfortunately quite rough in the finish, earthy notes.
