Firm, dark ruby; very clear, intense nose, smells of violets, cocoa, a hint of licorice, lots of blackberry and plum; dense and full on the palate, unfolds with fine-meshed, rich tannin, builds up powerfully, but is still strongly characterized by drying tannin in the finish, still needs a lot more ageing.
