The red wine Carnuntum DAC Purple X-Treme, vintage 2019 from the winery Meinrad Markowitsch has been rated in 2021 by Peter Moser with 92 - 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Merlot from the region Carnuntum in Austria.
It has a dark ruby colour, with purple reflections, and a delicate ochre rim. There is an aroma of pleasant fine oak spiciness, discreet hints of nougat, and an underlay of dark berry fruit, it is an inviting bouquet. On the palate it is juicy, with a ripe cherry flavour, a subtle fruit sweetness, and well-integrated vivid tannins. It is still somewhat demanding on the finish, and it will benefit from bottle ageing.
