Tasting Notes
Strictly speaking, this is outside the remit, as it made of Xinomavro grapes from different regions – though Naousa makes a major part. The nose of the 2020 is distinct, and breaks away from previous vintages. Fresh, cool, and particularly fragrant, with lively red fruit (strawberry appears particularly prominent) and an overall feel of immediate pleasure. There is, however, a transformation on the palate, where it appears much more grownup and more inline with previous years. The tannins are very robust, and the fruit very concentrated. The texture is true to the name indeed, almost too raw to approach. This is still in its infancy, but it has very substantial potential. It is always difficult to give a precise estimation of how something will taste in a decade, but this shows all the signs of being the best “Xinomavraw” yet. (Drink 2028-2040, where it will be 94-96 pts.)
