The red wine Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, vintage 2018 from the winery Sassetti Livio has been rated in 2023 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Sangiovese from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Rich ruby with a rich garnet edge. Opens on the nose with emphatically ripe notes, pickled cherries and dried plums, plus lots of molasses, seems like a Brunello from days gone by. Blossom on the palate then rich, lots of ripe fruit, opens with hearty, grippy tannins, lots of power, delicately bitter finish.
