The red wine Shiraz Select, vintage 2003 from the winery Saxenburg has been rated in 2010 with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Syrah from the region Stellenbosch in South Africa.
Strong ruby in colour. Cherries, tobacco, dark chocolate, a hint of olives and some ripe plums all on the nose. The palate is taut and complex, with juicy extract sweetness, vivid tannins and a fresh acid structure. Nougat and oranges show on the finish, which has great length and a fresh, lemony aspect. Plenty of ageing potential.
