Tasting Notes
On the nose, it’s clear there is still quite a lot of wood involved, probably some new oak, with earthy notes, undergrowth, but always framed by fresh, compact fruit: currant, pomegranate, dark cherry, and some wild berries such as crunchy blackberry as well as a noticeable hint of chalk. Old vines no longer need to provide unnecessary activity, especially not with Huber’s: this is relaxed on the palate, with a soft base, self-confident with powerful extract, that never becomes demanding, skilfully balancing substance, fruit, and acidity (ripe, spicy, slightly saline, and well structured), the tannins are fine-grained, elegant, and juicy, the wood use already quite skilful. This makes greatness appear effortless. Deep and mineral with a symbiotic interaction of the elements. Cherry, some wild plum, wild raspberry, sour cherry as important, supporting features. Well extracted, a little green, one would have to say, certain depth, Uli 94.
