The red wine Hommage Walporzheim Alte Lay Spätburgunder »Grosses Gewächs« trocken, vintage 2018 from the winery Weingut Brogsitter has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Spätburgunder from the region Ahr in Germany.
Still comparatively closed on the nose, showing mainly nutty wood aromas, herbal tones and red currant. The palate begins silky and soft, then the wine unfolds all the breadth and charm of its warm, ripe vintage. The acidity nevertheless provides sufficient support and the tannin has a fine, yet noticeable grain, allowing the the fruit to linger long and intensely.
