The white wine Chardonnay Ried Klöchberg, vintage 2017 from the winery Weingut Engel has been rated in 2019 by Peter Moser with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Chardonnay from the region Vulkanland Styria in Austria.
Medium yellow green, with silver reflections. Discreet pear fruit underlaid with nice fine oak savouriness, some meadow herbs, with a nuance of lemon balm, and a hint of vanilla. Juicy, tightly meshed, well-integrated acidity, a salty minerality, with some tropical fruit on the finish, and a lovely spiciness on the aftertaste. It still seems somewhat restrained, and has certain potential for ageing.
