The red wine Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot, vintage 2017 from the winery Weingut Maria und Johann Hofstädter has been rated in 2021 by Peter Moser with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot from the region Central Burgenland in Austria.
It has a dark ruby colour, with purple reflections, and a subtle ochre rim. There is a lovely fine oak savouriness, with a hint of cassis and liquorice, blackberry confit, and an underlay with lime zest and mint. On the palate it is powerful, with black berry fruit, ripe tannins, a fresh structure, and some minerality. It is still very youthful, and it has good ageing potential.
