Lufthansa offers "Sleeper's Row" on long-haul flights in Economy Class
Offers start in summer 2021!
Lufthansa is bracing itself for the upcoming summer season. As the airline anticipates a major rush to faraway destinations, there is now a new offer for all travelers in Economy Class. From summer 2021, passengers will be able to book the so-called "Sleeper's Row", where they can rest and maybe even get some sleep.
"Sleeper's Row" is designed to provide comfort
Who can't relate: when on a long-haul flight in economy class, you, at some point, don't really know where to put your feet. No position is comfortable for your back. You can't rest or sleep and usually, you are glad when the machine begins with the landing approach. Lufthansa wants to offer all Economy Class passengers something new and is introducing a so-called "Sleeper's Row" from summer 2021. In other words, an entire row of seats consisting of three seats that can be converted into a bed. Passengers who book this sleeping option receive a thin mattress, a cushion and a warm blanket.
The surcharge for the "Sleeper's Row" is 169 Euroas the airline announced on request. The sleeping bag has already been tested on several 11-hour flights to São Paulo. The total price for the flight ticket and the sleep-free meal was 260 euros. However, it was not possible to book the offer in advance on these flights, but only at check-in. It was only at this point that it was clear how full the plane was.
No new concept
The concept of a sofa bed already existed with other airlines such as Air Zealand. However, the offer did not really catch on at the time. Lufthansa nevertheless dared to give it a try and found that both passengers and companies are convinced of it. For the airline, the sleeplessness is also an additional source of income. This is because the offer only applies to seats that would have been free anyway.
