Sweet Sensation: Croatian village bakes the world's longest apple strudel
Two tons of flour, three tons of apples makes an edible record: the world's longest apple strudel was baked in Croatia last weekend.
Some world records are curious; some exciting; and some are delicious. Last weekend, the Croatian village of Jaskovo was the scene of a record-breaking baking competition. As the centerpiece of the 10th Strudel Festival, numerous amateur bakers gathered to bake the longest apple strudel in the world. The attempt was successful: The finished strudel was a total of 3.136 kilometers long and duly entered into the Guinness Book of Records after precise measuring by officials. A whopping two tons of flour and three tons of apples were used to make the strudel.
The strudel was not baked in one pice, but rather, individual strudels were arranged into one gargantuan pastry; however, this does not detract from the record. Incidentally, this is not the first time that Jaskovo has broken a strudel world record. Ten years ago, they made headlines with the longest strudel in the world for the first time at that time, however, the total length was "merely" 1.479 kilometers.
