casanoa
Italian-inspired restaurant with heart and variety. The mix of aperitif bar with antipasti and restaurant with pasta, meat or risotto makes an impression. Not content with an above-average wine list, they also mix cool cocktails.
Gastronomy is changing - even the Italian-influenced restaurant scene in Switzerland is no longer what it was a few decades ago. Perhaps in future it will look more like the inconspicuous "Casanoa" from the outside. A restaurant with a buffet for self-service at lunchtime, an Italophile aperitif bar from 4 or 5 p.m. and a place with supposedly authentic Italian cuisine after 6 p.m. Will it all work? We found out after we had entered, passed through the checkroom and kitchen and reached the reasonably sized dining room. The atmosphere was already brilliant shortly before 7 pm: on the bar stools at the counter, at the small round or larger square tables. Guests are spoiled for choice. Just one drink from the extensive cocktail menu? Gladly. A glass of Anthilia from Donnafugata or Nero d'Avola from Feudo Arancio? Of course. The range of bottles is not huge, but well thought out and anything but overpriced; the Morellino di Scansano from Le Pupille can always be recommended. At some point that evening, a band popped in for a short performance, and the food didn't dampen the mood either. The beef tartare was quite successful: perfect in consistency, nicely seasoned, crispy seasoned, accompanied by crispy toast. The parmigiana di melanzane lacked a little salt, but this eggplant dish was not lacking in freshness at all. Finally, tiramisu, beautifully creamy, not too sweet and served without any fishy ingredients. We were also treated to a small cocktail on the house - with liquorice and coffee liqueur, if we understood correctly.
