The “Prunkstück Sonnendeck” has opened in Rathauspark as a new summer venue as part of the film festival on Vienna’s Rathausplatz. Through early September, visitors can enjoy cocktails, seasonal cuisine, and a rooftop terrace overlooking the festival grounds, all spread across two levels.
Just in time for the Film Festival at Vienna’s Rathausplatz, there’s a new gathering spot this year for everyone spending the summer in the city. With the “Prunkstück Sonnendeck,” the Vienna-based “Kleinod” Group has opened a two-story open-air venue in Rathauspark. Through September 6, a bar, kitchen, and terrace will be available there in a space of about 400 square meters. The venue can accommodate up to 250 guests. The ground floor features a bar, an open kitchen, and lounge areas surrounding the fountain. A walk-on terrace overlooking Town Hall Square and the festival grounds was set up there.
In addition to classic and modern cocktails, the drink menu features mainly rosé wines. The beverage partner is Pernod Ricard Austria, and among the drinks being served is Rosé Château Sainte Marguerite from Provence. Culinary-wise, the Sonnendeck focuses on small dishes meant for sharing, which are freshly prepared in the open kitchen. The menu features items such as Pimientos de Padrón, beef tartare, coconut arancini, zucchini flowers in batter, croquetas, and a Wagyu brioche. If you have a sweet tooth, choux pastry doughnuts filled with nougat are the perfect dessert for you.
Starting July 11, the “Daytime Society by Kleinod” event series will also be added to the program. During the day, DJs provide musical entertainment, along with drinks and food—as an additional offering in conjunction with the film festival. The “Prunkstück Sonnendeck” will remain open until September 6. From Monday through Thursday, the hours of operation are from 4 p.m. to midnight; Friday through Sunday, it opens as early as 11 a.m.
