The "Lubin" has been at this address for a long time. But when the Chassidov fishmonger family, originally from Uzbekistan, took over the address in 2024, nothing stayed the same. The small maritime empire of the extensive clan includes the "Fischvierterl" on Naschmarkt and the "Gutfleisch" on Sonnbergmarkt. However, the culinary flagship is undoubtedly the "Lubin" in the quiet Hainburger Straße - their only restaurant away from a market. The interior, decorated in shades of blue, would grace any yacht marina. More important, however, is what chef Anto Matic' produces - once a student of Markus Mraz and Reinhard Gerer and long in service with the Barbaros. First alici on crispy tramezzini toast with stewed peppers and chili. Then calamari rings with a delicate texture as a salad with tomatoes and sea asparagus. Larger rounds are rewarded by being able to order larger animals such as St. Peter's fish or turbot whole. Most of the fish comes from Croatia. And if you enquire about the next large delivery from Rungis express, you can also see a 100-kilo tuna being carved on the terrace, followed by fresh tuna tartare and flamed toro sashimi. 110-kilo swordfish have also been spotted here. You won't find anything like this in any other fish restaurant in Vienna. On the wine list: on the one hand, fine bottles from Austria and Croatia. On the other hand, lots of Gaja, the top wines from the Antinoris and a few renowned Bordeaux. A curiosity at the end: Because the majority of reservations are made for 7 pm, 6 pm or even earlier, a "pleasure discount" of ten percent is granted as an incentive for later enjoyment from 8 pm.
