The Giefing winery is one of the established top producers in the country. Its magnificent Weinbürgerhaus is located right in the center of Rust. At Giefing, it is always a priority to produce wines that are a true reflection of the vintage, the soil and the special microclimate of the Rust hills.
The vineyards around Rust are characterized by excellent, particularly loose soils, most of which are underlain by calcareous sandstone, loess and Rust gravel. The grapes in the mostly older vineyards are smaller, the skins are thicker and the extract of color and taste is therefore higher. Hand-picking and fermentation using only natural yeasts are standard here. The result is fine, elegant and expressive wines.
When we talk about Giefing's white wines, we are also talking about rare varieties such as Furmint, Neuburger and Traminer. Dry, fruity summer wines and rosé are also part of the program here. Particularly storable and expressive reserve wines underline the quality of the range. The top line of wines such as the Cuvée "Cardinal", Blaufränkisch Reserve, the Pinot Noir "Cavallo", St. Laurent vom Ruster Kalk, "Marco Polo" or the feminine powerhouse Chardonnay "Contessa" are only produced in particularly good years.
In addition to the great ageing potential of Giefing wines, the estate is known for the depth of its vintages and its mature red wines. The Giefings thus offer an idea, an idea and the taste of their region.
