Falstaff Wine Guide Italy 2026

Weingut Gran Buel, a place with history and vision, is nestled in the countryside above Runkelstein Castle near Bolzano. The Heiss family has been realising their dream of producing their own wine here since 2020. The historic "Plattner in der Sill" farm, surrounded by steep porphyry slopes, has been lovingly renovated and complemented by a modern new building in harmony with nature. The vines were painstakingly planted by hand on the steep slopes at an altitude of 800 metres. Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc now grow here in a special microclimate: sunny and well ventilated - a terroir that shapes character.
