The Schup family has been at home in Guntramsdorf for more than 300 years and is now in its sixth generation as winegrowers with heart and soul. With care and a lot of hard work, Gregor V. has succeeded in increasing the area under cultivation from 1.5 hectares to 32 hectares. The whole family is currently involved in the business. Guests at the family's own Heurigen restaurant, which offers typical specialties as well as fine cuisine, are cooked for by the good soul of the family, Eva Schup. Her love of indulgence and the courage to try new creations make the Heurigenstube a feel-good place.
Gregor V. has been putting his heart and soul into the wine cellar for over 35 years now. In recent years, his passion has resulted in top-quality products that have won many awards. "Our greatest concern is to always provide our customers, whether retailers, restaurateurs or our guests and private customers, with the most honest and best quality," says the winemaker. This passion, together with the demand for quality, has been passed on to their children, who will continue to run the business together as a family business in the future.
Daughter Johanna Schup has been working at the winery since 2019. She was born with a passion for wine and developed a particular love for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir through her training at the Wine Academy (WSET) and internships in Burgundy, Nuits St. Georges with Francois Legros. Her brother Gregor Schup couldn't help but follow in his family's footsteps. As the perfect complement to Johanna's experience in Burgundy, Gregor also ended up in France, in one of the best wine regions in the world, Bordeaux, after his training and initial practical experience at Schloss Gobelsburg. Here he was able to supplement his experience at Château Latour. The love of mature wines remained with both of them even after their experience abroad, and the hint of French influence is still a distinguishing feature of their wines.
