The white wine »Selektion« Gerlachsheim Herrenberg Chardonnay Spätlese trocken Barrique, vintage 2020 from the winery Becksteiner Winzer has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter with 92 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Chardonnay from the region Baden in Germany.
Relatively deep in colour, and also intense in aroma: salted pop corn, buttery and nutty notes, well-integrated finely spiced wood. Full and supple on the attack, the palate structure unfolds with good, ripe acidity and delicate phenolics. Very good balance, very good length. A fairly complete Chardonnay that lets its chalky terroir shine through.
