The white wine Murua Fermentado en Barrica Blanco Rioja DOCa, vintage 2014 from the winery Bodegas Murua has been rated in 2016 by Axel Biesler und Ulrich Sautter with 89 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Macabeo, Malvasia, Garnacha Blanca from the region Rioja Alavesa in Spain.
Roasted nuts, coconut and smoky spice testify to the ageing in new oak. The apricot and abate pear fruit is sober, somewhat roasted and candied. Sweet, toasty spice on the palate too, with somewhat sparse fruit and bitter tannins. We recommend an oily fish and sauce with lots of good butter.
