Tasting Notes

Tasting from 20.12.2020: Peter Moser

Dark ruby, discreet ochre rim, brightening on the edge. Notes of tobacco and blackberries, a touch of liquorice, mineral and smoky touch. Velvety and chocolatey, clearly less animalistic with air, black berries, ripe tannins, lingering, nougat touch in the finish; simply great, mineral and very convincing.

Dark ruby, subtle ochre rim, discreet brightening on the rim. On the nose the delicate animal nuances that make this Montrose vintage unmistakable, blackberries, tobacco-smoky nuances, hints of game, a little nougat and orange zest underneath. On the palate hearty and pronounced in fruit, firm tannins, mineral touch, a bitter chocolate finish, delicately salty with mineral nuances in the very long finish, has certain ageing potential for many years.

Dark ruby garnet, delicate ochre rim, deep color. Delicate Brettanomyces on the nose, tobacco, herbal spice, orange zest, hints of precious wood, somewhat earthy bouquet. Taut on the palate, dark minerality, somewhat demanding tannins, a delicate metallic, astringent touch, medium length, bitter chocolate finish, a little rough on the finish, delicately rustic, but with potential. What Parker gave the Mouton 90 too little, he gave the Montrose a little too much.
