The white wine Casteller Silvaner, vintage 1959 from the winery Fürstlich Castell’sche Domäne has been rated in 2018 by Rainer Schäfer with 96 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Grüner Sylvaner from the region Franconia in Germany.
Multi-layered aromatic profile with notes of dried fruit, TART, bay leaf and floral notes. Well structured on the palate, clear and clean, with restrained power and fine acidity. Very precise, balanced and persistent, unexpectedly lively. Famously matured, a great dry Silvaner that also underlines the goodness of the gypsum-skeuper soil rich in calcium sulfate.
