The red wine Masseto Toscana IGT, vintage 2008 from the winery Ornellaia has been rated in 2011 with 98 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Rich, impenetrable ruby with purple shimmer. Very dense, intense nose, showing mountains of dark berry fruit, blackberry, elderberry and ripe plum, with fine tobacco and liquorice notes in the background. Opens on the palate with lots of juicy, vivid fruit, then opens up with dense, substantial tannins, emphasised savoury notes in the course, appears wild and impetuous, very long finish, notes of tobacco.
