The red wine Masseto IGT, vintage 2012 from the winery Ornellaia has been rated in 2015 with 98 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Clear, dense ruby-purple. Rich and memorable nose, showing notes of elderberries, blackberries and cassis, plus tobacco and cedar. On the palate as if from a single mould, displays lots of rich and vivid fruit, especially blackberry, also some liquorice, then opens with powerful, dense tannins, multi-layered, very long finish with subtle hints of cocoa.
