The white wine »Muschelkalk« Silvaner trocken, vintage 2023 from the winery Weingut Herzer has been rated in 2025 by Ulrich Sautter with 90+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Silvaner from the region Saale-Unstrut in Germany.
The fragrance shows a lot of the eponymous shell limestone: with smoky, chalky-spicy aromas that even play into iodine. There must have once been a sea where the vines grow! The wine is powerful on the palate, with a supple background, a good, full-bodied mid-palate and a rather mild acidity.
