The white wine Mecklenburg Souvignier gris trocken, vintage 2023 from the winery Weingut Schloss Rattey has been rated in 2024 by Ulrich Sautter with 90+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Souvignier gris from the region Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in Germany.
Freshly opened, the wine initially appears just as closed as the Mecklenburgers themselves are said to be. With a little air, delicate apple notes, lemon zest, unaffected, the Souvignier Gris grape variety gains in profile. A vivid acidity characterises the mouth impression, deliberately dry, very pure. Only on the finish do slightly green notes show that we are still in the north.
