The red wine Octavius Old Vine Shiraz, vintage 2016 from the winery Yalumba has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter, Peter Moser, Dominik Vombach, Anne Krebiehl with 96 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Syrah from the region Adelaide in Australia.
On the rich nose, a hint of smoke and leather attaches itself to the minty notes of plums and dark berries. The palate is lush, dense, has a texture of melted milk chocolate, and is infused with layers of ripe fruit. The tannins are as supple as brushed velvet. In its richness and depth, this is unequivocally Australian - but made with exquisite ease. Once again, old vines, some planted in 1854, are the secret. Respect.
