Cococciola is a white wine variety that is mainly grown in the Italian regions of Abruzzo and Apulia. Its cultivation is recommended in the provinces of L’Aquila, Chieti and Pescara. It is also permitted in the provinces of Teramo and Foggia. Smaller vineyards are also known in Argentina, Brazil, France and Spain. In Italy, 1,428 hectares of vineyards were recorded in 1982. The wines of the late-ripening variety are used almost exclusively in blends with other varieties. The white wines find their way into the DOC wine Trebbiano d’Abruzzo.
