The cuisine here thinks far beyond the region: Mediterranean and Asian influences are combined with classics without appearing contrived. This results in dishes that arouse curiosity and surprise again and again - a sophisticated interplay of textures and flavours.
The bistro atmosphere and uncomplicated hospitality make Le Lion d'Or a popular meeting place. The tasty French cuisine is based on seasonal and, where possible, regional products. The savoury filled puff pastry tarts are wonderful.

If you were to produce a film about bistro culture, the filming would have to take place right here. A restaurant could hardly be more beautiful and typical. However, patron Benoit Vacher cooks much more creatively and seasonally than is usual in Geneva's bistros.
In Geneva's former slaughterhouse neighbourhood, La Cantine des Commerçants interprets Basque cuisine in a modern and unpretentious way. The small, urban dining room is simple, the dishes are aesthetic and creative. Only one thing remains constant on the menu: the chef's Gâteau Basque.
