"Outdoor Dining Area" Street Food Restaurants in Bavaria
Sarah and Mete have created a place here that has long been a beloved institution at the Viktualienmarkt. The fantastic selection of wines and the many events featuring renowned guests are highlights, as are the delicious mezze and the wonderful gözleme—for example, with Swiss chard and dates.
USHI now focuses entirely on ramen—served at a luxurious level in an upscale setting. Take the Truffle Tori Paitan Ramen, for example, featuring a creamy chicken broth, sous-vide chicken thigh, Wagyu beef, egg, and shaved truffles. Served with: Onsen Tamago rice, kimchi gyoza, and garlic edamame.
This is perhaps the most “Munich-esque” of all the city’s street food spots—at least when it comes to sweets. The fresh-baked Krapfen, Striezel, and Auszogenen served in this traditional café behind the Viktualienmarkt have been delighting customers for generations. The daily specials are displayed in the storefront window.
The interior of this small restaurant on a quiet street isn't anything to write home about—but the pizza more than makes up for it! This Italian family has rightfully earned multiple awards for their pizza-making skills. It's a revelation, with delicious dough and the finest ingredients in every variety.
When Ali Güngörmüs opens a meze restaurant, it’s bound to be excellent—and it certainly is! The specialties served at the counter set the standard, as does the freshly baked flatbread. Pera, by the way, is the historic name of Ali’s favorite neighborhood in Istanbul.
Saluki, located in the lovely neighborhood near the Großmarkthalle, offers three highlights worth experiencing, all in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere: great classic pizza, “tapas”—that is, small dishes like ceviche or burrata with a creative twist—and a wine list curated with passion.
Fast, fresh, delicious, healthy: At byvu, everyday meals are meant to taste great and be good for you. They pull it off well—take the Beef Phở or the “beautiful mess” rice bowl with salmon and mango, for example. The summer rolls and curries are also great options for a light, delicious lunch.
An exceptionally beautiful pub: the equivalent of a Japanese izakaya. It’s hard to tell whether it’s rustic Bavarian or a trip to Japan—and that’s part of its charm. The cuisine is a wild mix of traditional cuisines from different cultures; it tastes great and is a lot of fun. Good wine selection.
What does “modern Vietnamese cuisine” actually taste like? Here at Rice Garden, try the summer rolls with mango salad, lotus root and eggplant in tempura batter, or a classic curry with crispy duck breast. The grilled specials and hot noodle bowls are also particularly good.
Tucked away on a small side street, TUTU is a real gem in the lively Maxvorstadt neighborhood. It’s a bar where you’ll want to linger over a few beers or long drinks while snacking on mezze, salads, or börek—and enjoying the regular concerts!
Burgers, but the luxury version. The “BLB,” as Munich locals call this trendy spot, has become a Munich cliché made of meat (and lobster). This is where the beautiful people, stars, starlets, and those who aspire to be one gather for drinks, steak tartare, truffle burgers, and lobster rolls.
Since its reopening, the Elisabethmarkt has become more and more of a hotspot—and Fizzy Bubele’s amazing sabich pitas are partly to thank for that. You’ll definitely want to stop by here a few times to try the fries (grilled cheese with pomegranate and mint yogurt) and the falafel, too!
