Cannabis meets wellness: The SchlossHotel Zermatt has unveiled the first CBD spa in Europe.
The traditional SchlossHotel Zermatt in Switzerland has repositioned itself as an active hotel: Under the motto "Stay active. Stay well", the hotel has presented a new concept and its vision for the wellness market of the future. It has unveiled what it says is the first CBD spa in Europe, developed with the care line SwissCBD, owned by Schibano Pharma Group AG.
"Together with the SchlossHotel we were able to develop the appropriate concept and design all treatments in the new SchlossSpa in close cooperation," said CEO Daniel Schibano. The cannabis ingredient cannabidiol (CBD) is used in the new spa in the form of a wide range of selected treatments, for example CBD oils and the CBD herbal sauna.
The Swiss company SwissCBD produces legal products from cannabis for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. The sale of CBD products is legal in Switzerland. The ingredient is considered to be calming, anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory – and without intoxicating effects.
CBD is not only used in the wellness sector due to its calming effect – beverage manufacturers and chefs have also discovered a market for the active ingredient. Various companies already produce CBD drinks such as coffees or teas, as well as cocktails and chocolate. With CBD oil, creative recipes with hemp extract can also be prepared at home.
