Gaucho to open three new restaurants in 2023

Argentinean steakhouse will have a site at Covent Garden, London, from June.

The Argentinean steakhouse brand Gaucho, part of Rare Restaurants, is planning further UK expansion in 2023 with three new sites this year, including the first London opening since 2009: Gaucho on James Street, Covent Garden, will open this June, with seating for 120 over 7,000sq ft. The restaurant will offer breakfast, pre- and post-theatre dining, and late-night entertainment in the tradition of Argentina´s tango halls.

Before that, in March, the brand will open its first site in the North East of England: Gaucho on Pilgrim Street in Newcastle will be situated in a Grade II listed building offering a lunch menu, evening à la carte and group sharing, as well as Sunday Sessions featuring a bottomless Sunday Roast and live music.

In May, Gaucho will open its first restaurant in Wales, located on Bridge Street in Cardiff. The 8,500sq ft site will sit across two storeys and accommodate 220 guests; there will be two private dining rooms, a central cocktail bar, and a Beef Bar that will showcase an Argentine beef tasting menu.

Rare Restaurants currently have 22 sites with its Gaucho and M Restaurants brands. Martin Williams heads up the group which boasted ‘a record-breaking year’ with double-digit Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) on turnover of £73million, up from £55million.
