Lynch-Bages’ new winery
Celebrating the launch of Lynch-Bages’ new winery, the dedicated sale will feature a distinctive bespoke En Primeur barrel of this inaugural vintage, offered as part of a combined lot including an opportunity to dine at Lynch-Bages with the Cazes family and stay overnight at their beautiful Château Cordeillan-Bages property.
Although predominantly made up of wines from the Lynch-Bages estate and a limited number of exclusive experiences, the auction will also present distinctive wines from properties which have been acquired by the Cazes family, namely Château Haut-Batailley, Château Ormes de Pez, Domaine des Sénéchaux, Domaine de L'Ostal, and Roquette & Cazes. With a combined estimate in the region of £500,000/$669,277, the auction will open for bidding on March 11 and culminate in a live auction in London on March 25.
Jamie Ritchie, worldwide head of Sotheby’s wine, added: “Sotheby's has enjoyed a long relationship with Château Lynch-Bages and the Cazes family and we are delighted that wine lovers worldwide will have the exceptionally rare opportunity to join in this wonderful celebration of the new winery, by acquiring historic vintages direct from the cellars.”
The winery was a collaboration between New York architect Chien Chung (Didi) Pei and BPM Architectes which have been involved in several high-profile winery builds around Bordeaux recently, according to The Bordeaux Concierge.
