180 million tons a year

According to official statistics, more than 180 million tons of tomatoes are produced worldwide each year, with China producing the most, followed by India and the United States in third place.

Not in the fridge!

The tomato originates in Central and South America and is fond of warm temperatures and sunny conditions. Contrary to popular belief, the tomato does not need to be stored in the fridge as it can riped and develop its aroma perfectly in a place above 13°C.

Summer superfood

The 'apple of love' is a true superfood, bursting with vital vitamins and minerals. Tomatoes not only have plenty of vitamin C, potassium, fibre and secondary plant substances, but also numerous B vitamins that promote concentration. The iron in tomatoes provides energy and the folic acid protects against hardening of the arteries. Lycopene, which is responsible for the red colour, has an antioxidant effect and is good for the heart. And they are low-calorie. No surprises that nutritionists recommend eating 250 grams of tomatoes daily.
