Visitors to Salzburg, Austria, now have a liquid attraction to admire: the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart now has a bar for samplling fine chocolate liqueurs - including two specially created signature drinks.

Musical heritage now meets sweet temptation in the building where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born: the newly opened Mozart Chocolate Lounge is now serving samples to the drinking public in Salzburg's Getreidegasse. With this step, the Salzburg-based manufacturer Mozart Chocolate Liqueur is opening a new business chapter.

Tasting Time!

The lounge is more than just a sales point or tasting room. The company's complete range of chocolate-based liqueurs will be on offer, supplemented by two specially developed signature drinks, like the “Mozart Coconut”. These were created by Attila Szellhofer, bartender at the Burdock Bar in Salzburg. The stylish presentation is intended to make not only the taste but also the Mozart brand “tangible”, as the company puts it.

The centerpiece is a two-part room: a freely accessible lounge for spontaneous sampling and a tasting room that will be open from late summer. In addition to classic tasting flights, there are also high-quality tasting boxes for the home.

Since the takeover by Austrian sparkling wine maker Schlumberger in 2016, sales and production volumes have increased significantly. Florian Czink, Schlumberger's Head of Marketing, describes the lounge as a “passion project” that aims to combine history and hospitality. Oliver Berghaus, who manages the lounge, also emphasizes: “It's more than just a bar – it's a haven of peace in the old town and a place for connoisseurs.”
