Airline to introduce special menus to mark Coronation and Easter holidays

Virgin Atlantic will update food and beverage offerings this week with emphasis on Coronation celebrations.

Virgin Airlines has announced plans to introduce a new menu on their transatlantic routes, the updated meals and beverages celebrating Easter and the King’ Coronation in May.

The new additions will be available from April 5, including the Whispering Angel rosé wine, making its upper class debut, initially for a six-month period. From the same date, upper class customers will also be able to sip on Teapigs peach iced tea, a refreshing and all-natural blend of juicy peach with teapigs’ black tea base, the ultimate iced tea.

Also, for upper class travellers, the menus will now include lobster and crab tortellini, a vegetarian poke bowl, and a classic Pimms summer pudding.

There will also be a new club sandwich filled with Applewood cheese, house slaw and seasonal leaves, served on the carrier’s extra bites menu. Also available will be aloo tikki with pepper pakora accompanied by a sweet tomato and chili chutney; a new strawberries and cream flavour of Northern Bloc ice cream will also be on the menu.

In premium class, passengers will be offered the choice between chicken pie and a spinach & ricotta tortellini with sage butter sauce, roasted pumpkin and caper panko crumb. For dessert, a passion fruit and mango cheesecake garnished with coconut will be available.

In economy, honey barbecue chicken thigh with Portuguese rice and steamed vegetables will be served, alongside a farfalle pasta in a spinach ricotta cheese and roasted garlic sauce.

The Easter bank holiday weekend, April 7-10, will also see Cocoba chocolate lollies loaded in all cabins on flights departing the UK for the US and Caribbean.

The King’s Coronation on May 6 will be marked by upper class customers receiving a mini bottle of Lanson Black Label Champagne, while all travellers will be treated to a packet of specially created Joe & Seph’s Kings Coronation raspberry and white chocolate coated popcorn.

Over the Coronation weekend a special Mile High Tea will be served in upper class and premium, including three finger sandwiches with fillings of dill cream cheese and roasted peppers, cheddar cheese, pickle and mixed leaf, and vegetarian coronation chickpea. Sweet treats include a warm scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and a trio of mini patisseries; a raspberry and rosewater macaroon, a calisson white chocolate and Earl Grey ganache, and a red, white and blue Battenburg.
