The new Falkensteiner Hotel combines sleek architecture with a rooftop spa, Japanese fusion cuisine, and sustainable concepts—an impulse project driving urban development in Bolzano.

On July 10, 2025, Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group (FMTG) opened its latest project: Falkensteiner Hotel Bolzano WaltherPark. Right in the heart of the North Italian capital, embedded in the WaltherPark district, which is currently under construction, the hotel sets architectural and gastronomic accents - without denying its tourist roots. The group operates 27 hotels, apartment complexes and campsites in the four- and five-star segment throughout Europe.

Between design standards and sustainability

The hotel, designed by David Chipperfield Architects, offers 114 rooms and suites, a rooftop spa with panoramic views of the Rosengarten and an urban-style interior, providing a deliberately modern counterpart to the region's traditional alpine hotel landscape. The interior concept was designed by Aggi Bruch and is based on a clear understanding of design with a cozy touch.

The hotel also opens a new culinary offering for Bolzano: the first North Italian branch of the Viennese restaurant Mochi is located on the sixth floor. The rooftop bar with Japanese fusion cuisine follows the Izakaya principle - small, creative dishes to share - and combines regional ingredients with Far Eastern cuisine. The operators speak of a deliberate mix of culinary experimentation and urban flair.

In addition to the design, the hotel also focuses on ecological aspects. For example, the building is cooled using river water - a contribution to greater energy efficiency in operation. With services such as a free mobility offer (Bolzano Bolzano Card) and a bicycle rental service, the aim is also to motivate guests to explore the surrounding area car-free.
