"Flixbus" launches bus route 666 from Krakow via Warsaw to the Hel Peninsula in summer 2026. The "bus to hell" will once again connect the major Polish cities with the Baltic coast.

"Flixbus" is launching a new Polish route in summer 2026: Line 666 will run from Krakow via Warsaw to the Hel Peninsula on the Baltic Sea - and is causing a stir due to its name and history, as reported by Euronews and others.

Several years ago, line 666 of the Polish company "PKS Gdynia" connected the coastal towns of Dębki and Hel and became a real cult phenomenon. In a Christian context, the number 666 is considered the number of the devil, while the destination Hel sounds like "hell" in English. It was precisely this dual significance that made the route famous far beyond Pomerania. Tourists photographed the buses, shared the pictures on social networks and quickly turned them into the unofficial "bus to hell".

"Flixbus" relaunches route 666

"Flixbus" is now building on this popularity and launching the route as a daily summer connection. In addition to Krakow and Warsaw, the line connects several vacation resorts on the Baltic coast, including Władysławowo, Chałupy, Kuźnica, Jastarnia and Jurata. The company points to the high demand for connections between the major cities and the region's seaside resorts. At the same time, the route is intended to help relieve congested access roads to the peninsula. The journey takes around 13 hours; departure is early in the morning in Krakow, the bus heads north via Warsaw and reaches Hel in the evening.

Seaside resorts with a non-devilish history

Despite all the attention surrounding numbers and history, the destination remains a classic vacation resort; the Hel peninsula is synonymous with long sandy beaches and Baltic Sea flair. The name has no mystical background, but probably goes back to old names for coastal and dune landscapes.
