Ice Cream and Champagne at the "Dolder Grand" Outdoor Pool
In Switzerland, outdoor swimming pools are known as “Badis” – refreshing summer retreats during the hot months. A particularly luxurious example is the newly renovated Dolder Wellenbad at the iconic hotel of the same name in Zurich, where even champagne is served poolside.
French fries, ice cream, and assorted candy — along with a dip in the cool water, these are usually the ingredients for a great day at the pool. Not so at the “Dolder Wellenbad” at the luxury hotel of the same name in Zurich: Here, guests enjoy summer days at the champagne bar.
Freshly renovated and set to reopen on June 19, 2026, the outdoor pool on Adlisberg is returning under its historic name, “Dolder Wellenbad.” It features a 50-meter lane, children's and wading areas, a slide, a yoga area, and a self-service restaurant. It is a popular spot for Zurich residents and guests of the “Dolder Grand” — the operator of the swimming pool — to cool off.
Champagne Pop-Up and BBQ
The summer season shows its luxurious side here: The “Moët & Chandon Lounge,” a temporary pop-up featuring sunbeds and a champagne bar, is coming to the grounds. Also planned are BBQ and mini-golf evenings, the“Dolder Wellenkino,” and events in collaboration with the music festivals “ZOA City” and “Naturklang.”
Popular wave energy plant starting in 2027
Opened in 1934, the facility is one of the city's earliest garden-style swimming pools and was once best known for its wave pool. After it closed in 2006, the pool continued to operate under the name “Dolder Bad.” Starting in 2027, the wave is set to become part of the swimming experience once again.
