I'm with you: Avril Lavigne launches her own wine
The Canadian singer is teaming up with Californian vineyard Banshee Winery to launch "Complicated" – a Pinot Noir named after her hit single.
With the release of her own signature wine, Lavigne joins a number of celebrities trying to gain a foothold in the beverage market. Produced by the Californian vineyard Banshee Winery, Lavigne's Pinot Noir is not the first collaboration between the two: the Sonoma county estate already sponsored the singer's last tour. To mark the launch of the wine, a large sum was donated to "She is The Music", a charity committed to giving women better opportunities in a male-dominated music industry.
"For the last two years of my Greatest Hits tour, I've been rocking the banshee bar backstage every night, ready for the afterparty. It just felt right to drink our own wine together," Lavigne explained in an interview with People Magazine. "I hope everyone can open a bottle of wine with their best friends, turn up the music that started it all for me and enjoy the moment. Life can be complicated, but a good glass of wine doesn't have to be."
Namingthe wine after her hit song "Complicated" is somewhat ironic: according to The Drinks Business, the wine is the exact opposite, namely "light, velvety with cherry and raspberry notes". So much for my happy ending!
