Museum of Broadway opens in New York

The first museum dedicated to all things Broadway has opened its doors to the public.

The curtain has gone up on the first museum focused on the history of world-famous  Broadway shows.

The museum in the heart of Times Square is designed to be an interactive and immersive experience that celebrates Broadway and takes visitors behind the scenes of the making of a show.

It is the brain-child of four-time Tony-nominated producer Julie Boardman and Diane Nicoletti, founder of Rubik Marketing.

Its first special exhibit will be The American Theatre as seen by Al Hirschfeld, a celebrated caricaturist. It will feature original drawings done by Hirschfeld for multiple Broadway shows, including Fiddler on the Roof, The Phantom of the Opera, Sunday in the Park with George, Funny Girl, and more.

The museum also features a timeline of Broadway from its birth to the present day, a map room with immersive video projections tracing the history and migration of New York's theatres and installations devoted to some of the most influential shows.
