NORTHERN LIGHTS: HERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO EXPERIENCE THEM IN 2021

The travel planning to the far north can begin.

The Northern Lights are one of the most spectacular phenomena that nature has in store for us. To ensure that the chances of seeing the fascinating play of colors are really high, you should inform yourself well in advance. When are favorable periods and in which countries are they most likely to be seen? We have the answers.

Iceland

Iceland is the hotspot for nature lovers: hot springs, volcanoes, waterfalls and breathtaking landscapes await outdoor junkies on the island. The dancing lights can be seen most frequently in North Iceland. September, October, February are considered the best times to visit and March.

Scandinavia

Sweden, Finland and Norway are probably among the best-known countries for admiring the bright Northern Lights. Due to its proximity to the North Pole, the probability is particularly high in Swedish Lapland (Abisko), in the north of Finland (Nellim) and in Norway's Nordkapp (Tromso). When to go? September to March is best.

Greenland

The higher north you go, the better your chances! Greenland is not a stone's throw away, but offers the best chances of success. With almost 300 clear nights a year, the town of Kangerlussuaq is the ideal place to admire the Northern Lights. The best time to experience the Northern Lights is from the end of August to the beginning of April, although the chances are even higher in the winter months.

Canada

Canada also has the perfect conditions: The capital Yellowknife is also known as the capital of the Northern Lights. Especially great: Even in Canada's southernmost cities, it is possible to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Due to the high incidence of sunshine, celestial phenomena occur most frequently between September and May.

Alaska

In the northernmost US state of Alaska, the chances of seeing the northern lights are good. Particularly helpful: the University of Alaska offers daily forecasts on how and where to expect a celestial display of color. The region around Anchorage is known worldwide as the place to be for "Northern Lights watching". The best months are between September and March.
