While wine sales falter elsewhere, Prosecco Superiore DOCG posted an 8% sales surge in 2025—hitting 98 million bottles—thanks to smart masterclasses, global trade shows, and cultural tie-ins like the Venice Film Festival.

While wine consumption is declining in many regions, the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG consortium reported an impressive eight percent increase in sales in 2025 compared to 2024, with a total of 98 million bottles sold. For the consortium, these results confirm the strength of its more than 220 member wineries, each committed to safeguarding and promoting the values of the denomination of origin.

“The figures with which we close 2025 are the culmination of a long process centered on the land, the people, and quality,” says Franco Adami, President of the Consortium for the Protection of the Designation of Origin. “Our growth is the outcome of a shared commitment—built on education, culture, and the increasingly conscious promotion of our appellation, both in Italy and abroad.”

Masterclasses, Cinema & Literature

Over the past year, the consortium hosted more than 100 masterclasses in Germany and beyond, designed primarily for trade professionals, the wine industry, and the specialized press. The goal: to deepen understanding of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, reinforce its identity, and communicate the values that define its origin.

The consortium also forged cultural partnerships extending beyond wine. Collaborations with the worlds of film and literature continued, including its renewed role as the official sparkling wine of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, part of the historic Venice Biennale.

Throughout 2025, the consortium expanded its global presence through promotional initiatives in Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Poland, Sweden, the United States, and Japan. In addition to its participation at the Expo Osaka, it took part in leading international trade fairs such as Wine Paris, ProWein, the London Wine Fair, Vinitaly USA in Chicago, and Expovina Zurich. A new partnership was also launched with the Institute of Masters of Wine.

Focus on Global Expansion

Looking ahead, the consortium will continue to invest in precise, targeted communication efforts—maintaining its presence in established European markets while intensifying outreach across non-European regions.
