The best wines from Franconia

Falstaff presents the best wines of the vineyards located on the Main River, which rise up to 370 metres.

With a rich tradition dating back to the 8th century, Franconia has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the best wine regions in the country. From the sun-drenched vineyards along the picturesque Main River to the unique grape varieties that thrive here, Franconia has much to offer.

2021 Klingenberg Schlossberg Pinot Noir GG - 96+ Falstaff points
Winery Rudolf Fürst, Bürgstadt

Behind a yeasty note, an intense aroma of red berries makes itself felt, also a note of damp leaves, discreet wood. On the palate, grippy, fresh, firm and yet mineral-coupled tannin contrasts the smoothness. Dense in an unobtrusive way - big!

2021 Bürgstadt Hundsrück Pinot Noir GG - 96 Falstaff points
Winery Rudolf Fürst, Bürgstadt

On the nose: cherry stone, sweet cherry, delicate floral hints, sage, very discreet wood. On the palate lots of juice, fine-grained, quite ripe tannins that attack early and hold tension for a very long time without astringency. Saltiness in the finish, juice, intense tactile minerality. And so fine at the same time.

2018 Castell Schlossberg Silvaner GG - 95+ Falstaff points
Princely Castell's Domain, Castell

Lots of flint in the fragrance. In addition, sweet white flowers, lime blossom, anise cookies. The palate reveals the hot year at best in its density; the acidity has traction, a very fresh and grippy phenolic gives tension. Ends compact and mineral. Very young!
