There is an address in Upper Austria that is causing quite a stir throughout the state. But it's not just the top spot in the rankings that is impressive: the whole state is buzzing with excitement.

Lukas Nagl makes his mark on Austria with unmistakable fish cuisine. Copying? Impossible. Sommelier Katharina Gnigler is also considered a luminary, her drink recommendations (with and without alcohol) are unique.

Klosterplatz 4, 4801 Traunkirchen, Austria

If you go to Lukas, you get Lukas. That means: unbelievable precision in the dishes, outstanding taste, a perfect interplay of flavors and epic beverage accompaniment.

Unterer Stadtplatz 7, 4780 Schärding, Austria

Wow. This is high cuisine that shines like a diamond in the culinary landscape. Lots of French dishes, exceptional wines with an impressive depth of vintage, the most beautiful ambience.

Pettenbacher Straße 3–5, 4655 Vorchdorf, Austria

The Grabmers are simply jack-of-all-trades, warm hosts and play the whole culinary keyboard: superb wines, home cooking, fine dining, a magical guest garden, cookbooks - it's all there.

Kickendorf 15, 4710 Grieskirchen, Austria

One ois please! Philip Rachinger proves why he is one of Austria's best chefs in his chic restaurant right on the romantic Mühl river. Top craftsmanship, great ideas, usually perfectly executed.

Unternberg 6, 4120 Neufelden, Austria

The high-end dishes that Philipp Lukas and his team conjure up in the Minimundus kitchen are unbelievable. The kitchen is currently being remodeled and expanded. It's hard to imagine the spheres into which you can then immerse yourself.

Pachmayrstraße 137, 4040 Linz, Austria

Just walking up the stairs to the stylish black restaurant raises expectations of a fantastic evening. And the guests are not disappointed: Lukas Kapeller is always on top form.

Damberggasse 27, 4400 Steyr, Austria

Elegant interiors that match the classy food. "The Rossbarths" have developed into leading chefs in a short space of time and demonstrate deluxe craftsmanship. The wine list is refreshingly different.

Klammstraße 7, 4020 Linz, Austria

The youthful Izakaya is just one door away from the main restaurant and scores with Japanese specialties. There is sushi, fine food from the Konro grill, top drinks, all executed with Kienbauer perfection.

Unterer Stadtplatz 7, 4780 Schärding, Austria

The area around the national park is enchanting, but you shouldn't expect a hustle and bustle. Cell phone reception is also sparse. But Klemens Gold sets off a culinary firework display. Outstanding.

Pechgraben 23, 4463 Großraming, Austria
