There's an old saying that you can still dream, but what's the point if you can't make your dreams come true? Sergi Ferrer-Salat, wine enthusiast and owner of the best wine bar in Barcelona, and Raül Bobet have fulfilled their dream in the 21st century and founded a joint winery in Priorat in the municipality of Porrera. The choice of this spot, which is certainly not lacking in excellent Priorat terroirs, is no coincidence. The seemingly untamed and sometimes rugged landscape is home to the highest vineyards in the region and the vines grow on the typical slate soils that give the wines their unmistakable, exciting and lively, fresh characteristics. This is also due to the cool climate that prevails here, with its north-easterly winds providing cooling, especially at night. The two friends can draw on 15 hectares of vineyards, planted with Carinena and Garnacha, as well as Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, with vines up to 100 years old. To protect nature, there are no plans to expand. As far as the portfolio is concerned, the focus is on three wines - sometimes less is more. The small harvest due to the age of the vines is rigorously selected again after the manual harvest. A jewel in the landscape around Porrera is the winery, which was designed in such a way that must or wine can be moved exclusively by gravity, making pumping over completely superfluous. Fermentation takes place in large wooden, cement or stainless steel vats, each precisely matched to the harvest, and the wines are allowed to mature over a period of 12 months in small French oak barrels, 60% of which are new. The extremely high ratings that Ferrer-Bobet's wines receive in the world's most renowned and prestigious wine publications prove that a new star is rising in Priorat, which already has some outstanding names.
