The Bordon family's roots are closely interwoven with their homeland. Their ancestors were farmers and ran one of the larger mills on the Rižana River in the Istria region, which they have restored and which is part of the estate as a small museum.
For several generations, they have dedicated themselves to farming, viticulture and winemaking. In 1985, together with eleven other Slovenian winegrowers, they proudly founded their own brand: Vina Bordon was thus one of the first private wine brands in Slovenia.
Today, the family cultivates twelve hectares of vineyards and 2.7 hectares of olive groves, all of which are certified organic and vegan. Jan Bordon is the fifth generation to take care of the winery. The representative grape varieties are Malvazija and Refošk, which are typical of the Istrian region. These varieties are very versatile and allow the winery to produce different lines: from sparkling to still, macerated and barrel-aged.
Guests are pampered with everything Istria has to offer in terms of feel-good factors: modern Istrian apartments, wine tastings, their own organic olive oil and homemade delicacies from Jan and his father Boris Bordon.
