Vinum

Falstaff Online Österreich 2023 - Weingüter - Osteuropa

It all began with the production of wine for home consumption. Vinarija Vinum, located in the beautiful Frusca Gora region in the north of the country in the Skremski Karlovci sub-region, was a winery run by amateur winemakers. However, they subsequently developed such a great love for wine and the winemaking process that they decided to turn their production into a professional operation and dedicate themselves entirely to wine production. This led to the official founding of the winery in 2001. Today, the winemaking process is meticulously carried out, including the implementation of scientific findings as well as the selection of special yeasts to achieve optimal results. Yields in the vineyard are also strictly limited in favour of high quality standards. It is one of the youngest wineries in the Kremsi Karlovci sub-region, but already has a remarkable track record. The grape varieties cultivated are Riesling Italico, here called Grasac, or Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, but new plantings are planned for the future, including grape varieties such as Sémillon, Gewürztraminer and Gelber Muskateller, as well as Pinot Noir for the red wines. Around 40,000 litres of wine are currently produced annually. The winery also has a tasting room for visitors, which can accommodate events for up to 50 people. And when the weather is fine, they can enjoy not only the wine on the terrace, but also a spectacular view over the historic town of Karlovci.
