Weingut St. Nikolaus-Hof

On the outskirts of Leiwen is the St. Nikolaus-Hof winery, which cultivates Riesling and Burgundy varieties on its 7.5 hectares of vineyards. The wines we tasted were all still very yeasty. If you want to drink them now, you should aerate them for a good hour in a chilled carafe. It would be better to put them away for a few years. The Laurentiuslay parcel "Vor dem Stortel" (Stortel = small, steep rock), the estate's parade site, was first mentioned in a document by the Elector of Trier in 1720.
